Fiber Post Application

Fiber post application is a restorative technique used after root canal treatment in cases where there is significant loss of tooth structure.
It is designed to strengthen the final restoration, especially when a large portion of the tooth is damaged or structurally compromised. By placing a thin fiber rod into the root canal, this procedure helps reinforce the tooth and contributes to its long-term durability.

Fiber posts are made from a biocompatible and flexible material, offering strength that closely mimics the natural structure of the tooth.

Fiber post placement is performed after the completion of root canal treatment.
First, the root canal is prepared to accommodate the fiber post. Then, the fiber post is inserted into the canal, and the remaining space inside the tooth is filled with a special adhesive. After the post is secured, the tooth is restored with either a composite filling or a porcelain crown. This ensures that the tooth is both functionally and aesthetically restored.

Compared to metal posts, fiber posts offer better aesthetics and durability.
While metal posts may affect the natural color of the tooth, fiber posts are more translucent and blend well with the tooth’s natural shade.
In addition, fiber posts help distribute biting forces more evenly within the tooth, reducing the risk of fractures.
